A Home For Spike
A Home for Spike was written by Heather Vogel Frederick, illustrated by Amber Hawks Schaberg, and published by Longyear Museum Press. This is a historical account of the household where Mary Baker Eddy lived during the first edition of her newspaper, The Christian Science Monitor. This newspaper was intended to tell the news and to injure no man, but to bless all mankind with true reporting. The story takes place from a squirrel’s perspective looking in on the happenings of her household.
This book required on-site historical research along with many reference books, historical costume books, and Sears Catalogs of the early 1900s to make every page accurate.

When Lilies Appear Cover Illustration
When Lilies Appear was written by Andrea Lawless, with cover artwork by Amber Hawks Schaberg.
My direction for this cover was to make a bouquet of flowers ominous, which leads us into the mystery of this romance thrill. I loved working on the glow effect of the firefly.

The Purple Dancing Triceratops
The Purple Dancing Triceratops is a young picture book by Kimmie Gotch and illustrated by Amber Hawks Schaberg.
The skill learned in working on this book was learning how to bend a dinosaur body into graceful dancing moves. The goal before me was to illustrate a natural setting for dinosaurs, but in a pastel and vibrant palette that appeals to girls. What a joy it was to work on this project.

UnBothered
This was a book cover of a recent paperback short novel I worked on. I hand painted the watercolor and created everything else on Procreate. The styling was contemporary, almost with a fashion illustration quality. Every chapter had an opening illustration as well. This was a really funny book to read and an enjoyable project. Available on Amazon.
